I subscribeAs mobile devices have become the primary tools for image creation and distribution, image authenticity, traceability, and IP protection can no longer rely on downstream processing. Protection must be applied natively, on-device, at the moment images are created.
At CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Imatag will present its mobile watermarking SDK for iOS and Android. The SDK is designed for camera manufacturers and application developers who need to embed image watermarking directly at the point of capture, within mobile devices and apps.
Why Mobile Watermarking Must Be Embedded
Traditional watermarking approaches often rely on server-side or post-processing workflows. While suitable in controlled environments, these models introduce structural weaknesses in mobile contexts.
First, images are first captured and stored without protection, creating gaps in traceability. Second, processing depends on network availability and backend infrastructure, which adds latency and operational complexity. In many mobile use cases, images may be shared or modified before any watermark is applied.
By contrast, on-device watermarking applies protection at the moment of capture. This ensures consistency, immediacy, and control, regardless of connectivity or downstream workflows.
However, embedding watermarking directly into mobile capture pipelines is not trivial. Developers and manufacturers must balance:
- Performance constraints on mobile hardware
- Preservation of image quality
- Integration complexity within existing imaging stacks
- Consistent behavior across iOS and Android environments.
These constraints explain why mobile watermarking has long remained difficult to deploy at scale.
Introducing Imatag’s Mobile Watermarking SDK
Imatag’s mobile SDK enables native digital watermarking integration on both iOS and Android.
It is designed for camera manufacturers, OEMs, and application developers who need to integrate watermarking technology directly into their products, without redesigning their imaging architecture.
“Embeddable” is meant in a literal sense. The SDK integrates directly into image capture pipelines, at the point where images are created, and remains compatible with existing camera and imaging workflows rather than replacing them.
The SDK is built to operate within real-world mobile constraints, enabling on-device watermarking without compromising performance or image integrity.
A Proven Technology, Now Available to Integrators
The SDK is based on Imatag’s patented digital watermarking technology, developed and refined over several years.
Crucially, this technology is already deployed in a consumer application, where it processes images at scale and under everyday usage conditions. This deployment has validated the robustness of the watermarking solution, its ability to operate within tight performance budgets, and its compatibility with standard mobile imaging workflows.
By packaging this technology as a mobile SDK, Imatag makes it directly accessible to third-party integrators.
Camera and device manufacturers can apply protection natively at the moment of capture, embedding authenticity and traceability directly into the image creation process. Mobile application developers can integrate watermarking without having to build or maintain their own watermarking logic, reducing both development effort and time to deployment. Platform and solution integrators can incorporate the SDK as a functional component within broader media, content protection, or traceability systems, without adding server-side processing or additional capture steps.
In all cases, the objective is the same: enable reliable watermarking at the source, using a technology that has already been tested in production environments.
Meet us at CES 2026 in Las Vegas
Imatag’s mobile watermarking SDK addresses a concrete need: protecting images at the moment they are created, within mobile devices and applications.
At CES 2026, Imatag is showcasing a solution that is already in use, designed for those building the next generation of mobile imaging experiences, and ready for real-world integration.
